A Friend Journeys to the Rainbow Bridge

Image
When I see a rainbow, I think of all the beauty in life. Our furpal Suka felt the same way...he and his Hu-Mom K spoke of life's beauty many times in their blog. I know that so many of us here in Bloggerville have now heard the news about Suka leaving on his journey for the Rainbow Bridge. He had just been diagnosed with incurable heart disease and was given anywhere from a few weeks to a few years to love K, feel the snow on his nose, and dealing with those Kung Fu bunnies. It was with such shock and sadness to hear our dear beautiful Suka was desperately needed as a FurAngel, and was called for his next big adventure in the sky a lot sooner rather than later. We all have said before how we have become a close-knit community of pet parents here, and when one of us loses a beloved pal, we all feel it. We weep tears for friends we may never have met, but have surely come to know through their stories, photos, and Emails. Such is our friendship with Suka and K. I'

Howloween is Almost Here! Time for Treats and Treating!

Image
We are so excited that Howl-oween is almost here! And that means treat time! We're joining Jack and Moo of the Cybersibes again this year in their third annual Show Us Your Treat Jar event! Our collection of paw print treat jars has changed little over the years, with the exception of the addition of a few air tight canisters to keep all the homemade treats fresh. With the recent onslaught of treat recalls, we've taken to whipping up homemade treats more frequently now, and the Sibes love it. They get all excited from the baking aromas in anticipation of the treats! Above is a collage of Harley, Gibson, Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit in all of their treat glory...and you can see a few of our treat jars in the photos!   As part of this event, Jack and Moo also ask for everyone to think of those furkids who are less fortunate and do not have a home or treats of their own by donating some treats to a local shelter this Howl-oween season. We love this idea and will be doing just t

This is one of my all-time favorite pup py photos of the "or iginals" of the FiveSibes - Gibson with his true love Harley. Even here, he has already grown to the same size of Harley, who was just a year and one month old here, and Gibson was just a young pup of about seven months! ❤ "I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. Flashback Friday # 5: Motherhood

Image
It's another Flashback Friday and time to stroll down Memory Lane together! Here's our alpha queen "Harley" adjusting immediately to becoming the Pupsters' momma. She has loved them and cared for them from the moment we brought them home as if they were her own. She embraced her role and is a wonderful surrogate momma and the only real mom the pups ever knew. Watching her interact with them when they were pups, and now that they are all grown up, is truly a wonderful example of love.  ❤ "A mother's love is instinctual, unconditional, and forever." ~Unknown Join us! Post a photo of your pet as a furbaby, grab our badge and link it to our blog, and then link your bog up to our Blog Hop by listing your blog URL in the Linkys, and then  hop down Memory Lane with us and visit to see some  adorable baby pics!  To catch up on past Flashback Fridays, visit us here: Flashback Friday #4 Flashback Friday #3 Flashback Frid

You're Invited! We Want To Know What You're Dog's Thinking!

Image
Wolf with an invite "thought bubble!" You're Invited! Show us your "Things Our Dog Are Thinking" photos and join in the fun! Many of you have seen the recent hottest trend in pet photos that crossing TV screens and the Internet and is called "shaming"... it's where there are photos of pets with white signs and text - or text written over the photo - that explains what the pet in the photo could be doing or could have done or is thinking. We decided here we'd like to create a slideshow video showing our pets in all of their glory by hosting a "Things Our Dog Are Thinking" as opposed to "Shaming" (because we really don't like that title). We are never ashamed of our dogs for doing what comes naturally to them (including chewing up our window sills, sunglasses, shoes, and deck rails), but they do do some silly, funny, and creative antics that we can all relate to as pet parents, and I thought it would be fun to creat

Blog the Change for Animals: Healthy Treats

Image
Be the Change! Join in! Today is Blog the Change for Animals and I’d like to take this time to talk about something important - feeding healthy treats to our furry friends. Lately, there are many (too many) recalls of dog treats and warnings of not giving treats made in China to our dogs, as there has been a reported high (too high) number of dogs becoming sick and many even dying after ingesting treats in question. The FDA is looking into cases reported, but until all treats in question are actually pulled from the shelves of stores, our pets remain in possible grave danger. In an effort to help spread the word and hopefully prevent any more pets from dying and getting sick, we’ d like to share a few very informative websites and some great homemade safe treat recipes for our furkids. Here are some important pages to follow: Dog Food Advisor (you can sign up for recall alerts). U.S. Food & Drug Administration Animal Parents Against Pet Treats a

Flashback Friday #4: Puppy Power!

Oh, what a wonderful day it was in April of 2008 when we added the three "Pupsters" to our family! Here's baby Bandit, Chloe, and Wolfgang the day they came home! Is it any wonder we couldn't leave any of these sweet babies behind? And, with the addition of these three cuties to our family that already included Harley and Gibson...they officially became the "FiveSibes!" "When you look at your life,  the greatest happinesses are  family happinesses."   ~Joyce Brothers We hope you'll join us by posting a pic of your furbabies and linking up to our hop. Then, let's visit each other's blog to stroll down Memory Lane and see all the cute babies! What a great kick-off to the weekend! Sibes Surfing in Stilettos?

Image
Chloe, how's the book party over there in the UK ? Chloe is in England.  Harley is wearing stilettos.  Are you curious yet?  Hope so!   We have Sibes, we have stilettos, and we have some surfing, some partying, and a fabulous read... Still curious? Today, we are going to have some fun! We are off "surfing the 'Net in stilettos" as we join the book launch party for Carol E. Wyer - author of Mini Skirts and Laughter Lines , and the fabulously funny Facing 50 With Humour blog, who has just released her second book, Surfing in Stilettos and has invited everyone to come celebrate at her book release party! Now since Carol resides in the United Kingdom, she has made access to her book party super easy - it's an online celebration, and you can even chat with other folks from all over while you enjoy some virtual mingling and sipping of refreshments. And don't fret about the time difference, the party does on all day so no matter where you live, you c

It's beginning to look a lot like...Howloween!

My daughter started decorating the house for one of her favorite holidays (besides Christmas, of course!) - Halloween! Here is a photo collage of pics shot in the shadows to get us all into the spooktacular mood of the season...and our Miss Chloe was busy snoopervising all the decorating! At the end of the night, the house received a four-paw rating from our girl, so at least we won't spook the other Sibes away! We hope you enjoy our Shadow Shot Sunday pics and here's to a spooktacular Howl-o-ween season for all! "Hold on, man. We don't go  anywhere with 'scary,' 'spooky,' 'haunted,' or 'forbidden' in the title!"   ~From Scooby-Doo Shadow Shot Sunday 2

Flashback Friday #3 : A Queen is Born!

Image
♥ Baby Harley ♥ Today's highlighted Flashback moment is of our alpha queen, Harley, when she was just 8 weeks old! Already, she was a stunning beauty! Ever since she was a young girl, my daughter always wanted a Siberian Husky. I always told her that when I felt she was ready to be a responsible pet parent, she could get her dream puppy. When my daughter was 17, we welcomed gorgeous baby Harley into our family, that already consisted of our elderly German Shepherd/Akita rescue girl, Chelsey, and a dwarf bunny, Sugar...(and unbeknownst to us then, Harley would be the start of our addiction, also known as the Husky "Potato Chip Syndrome!") Now it's your turn! Join us by posting a pic of your furry best friend as a baby, grab our badge & post, link up, and join in the fun trip down Memory Lane by visiting each other's blogs to check out baby pics! What a great way to kick off a weekend!  Have a fabulous Flashback Friday! "Yesterday is but today'

Happy 10th Anniversary to Tails on the Trails!

Image
The sled dog team was ready! This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of being at the Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue's 10th Annual "Tails on the Trails" Husky fundraising hike that was held in the beautiful Warminster Community Park in Pennsylvania. When we were invited by TOTTSHR to come, I was so excited! I've always wanted to attend, and have participated with the Sibe kids as "remote" walkers in the past to help raise funds for this wonderful rescue. This was my first year there, and it was great! I met so many beautiful Siberian Huskies and other canines, as well as a lot of very nice people, including some readers of this blog and my FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook page who were fans of Gibson, Harley, Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit! There were some "The Sibe Vibe" listeners, too!  Our Harley all decked out! I had fun signing some books, shooting photographs, and also doing a little shopping of my own!
