Day Dreaming on a Shadow Shot Sunday

Image
Day Dream by Cassie McNair Whenever I day dream, and day dream I do, in my secret garden, I day dream of you. I day dream of you, In my magical land; embracing me tight and holding my hand. Holding my hand, and touching my face. Just you and me, in this peaceful place. In this peaceful place a pristine river flows. Where the unicorns run, a breeze always blows. A breeze always blows and sings of a song; Our love in a place where you're never gone. Where you're never gone is as it would seem, from dusk until dawn, whenever I day dream. And whenever I day dream, and day dream I do, in my secret garden, I day dream of you. Please visit Shadow Shot Sunday's blog host, Hey Harriet !

How We Are Spending Our Summer...

Image
...doing a whole lot of this!!! Another hot, humid, and hazy day here. The FiveSibes opted to snooze indoors all day and even skipped a romp in the pool. Just too hot. I know many folks across the country are experiencing the same. Our "married" couple Harley and Gibson are trying to beat the heat by laying under the fan in the air conditioned kitchen. I know what they are dreaming of......s-n-o-w!!!

Merry Christmas...in July!

Image
Merry Christmas in July from Gibson and the FiveSibes! Yes, we just experienced one of the worst heat waves ever, and I'm talking about Christmas! Well, before you think I was out in the blazing hot sun for too long, Christmas is exactly five months from today! So to celebrate (and think snow), I'm posting this pic to remind us all that it's not really that far away! So Huskies and furpals, start making up that Christmas wish list! And while we're at it, let's all be sure to list "donations for a rescue/shelter" - and it does not have to be money, it can be scheduling some time to foster a dog or help out at a shelter, mending and donating some blankets and toys, donating some food or treats, etc. The furpals will certainly be more jolly...and we'll naturally feel better for helping too! And the best part? We don't have to wait for December to do it! Why not drop by a local shelter today, or this week, and bring some cheer to homeless animals ne

Entertaining Bored Huskies During the Heat Wave!

Image
It hit 102 degrees today on our thermometer, 115 with the heat index! Many people across the northeastern central portion of the country are experiencing this horrendous heatwave. What's a Sibe to do? Our five hesitantly go outside to quickly take care of business, and then retreat back inside to their favorite spots in the air conditioned house, where they hardly budge. The pups get a little restless and entertain themselves briefly with their toy bin, then back to snoozing. Here's a few scenes, that I'm sure is pretty familiar to pet owners across this week's heat belt: Bandit's favorite spot on the nook booth (and Chloe under it!) The married couple Harley and Gibson prefer the floor under the fan. Whaatttt???? Another day of this hot weather???? Wolf bored and upset at the hot weather. He's having snow dreams. Hu-Mom to the Rescue: Indoor Toy Bin Time!!! Enough of the toy ice cream, bring on the real stuff! Until next time...stay

Lone White Wolf by Jim Sauer Lone white wolf Limps through the woodland snow. Behind his trail The last lingering threads of twilight fade. Across the frozen lake The rising moon is a majestic mandarin dome. In his ears The silver velvet of the river... In his eyes And in his soul The moon.

Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day: Be the Change for Animals

Image
Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day and Blog the Change for Animals . Two very important events in the pet world. Pictured here is our Honorary Fire Awareness Husky Harley, who is going to help us spread the word about fire safety and standing up to "be the change" for animals everywhere. Blog the Change is, " Not just for bloggers…Be, Blog, and Read the Change for Animals!" And according to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), " With an estimated 500,000 pets affected by home fires each year, Pet Fire Safety Day is designed to educate the public on how they can prevent and prepare for emergencies and present solutions for reducing these tragic instances." Through Be the Change (BtC) for Animals, folks can blog about important pet issues and causes. According to BtC , "Come together in support of people helping animals in need. What have you done to Be the Change for Animals? Who do you know who acts tirelessly on animals’ behalf? W

Newsy Tuesday

Image
The Woos have news! To kick off this week, Wolf and Chloe have a few newsy items they would like to share! First, we would like to talk about a great little book for a great big cause… Can I Have a Some of That? This is a delicious collection of recipes "for (and by) dogs, puppies, (and feline puppies too)," edited by Ray Braswell and Jack of Blogger’s Daily Dose of Jack .  Jack and his “Tall One” have compiled a really cool book specifically for our furkids filled with pawsitively delicious recipes and treats! Even one of the FiveSibes’ favorite treat recipe – “Yogurt-Dipped Bones” is included! Please stop by his blog and check it out – and then scamper over to Amazon.com to order the Kindle book for yourself! And the best part – besides tickling the tummies of our canine companions? All proceeds go to the French Bulldog Rescue Network and Chase Away K9 Cancer.   I would also like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation, along with lots of woos from the Fi

Happy 90th Birthday, Mom and Hu-Nanny!

Image
An earlier photo of Mom with her furbabies Brandy & Lady T oday is a very special post...it's my Mom's, and the FiveSibes' Hu-Nanny's, 90th Birthday! She is a very special and loving lady who, along with my dad, has loved animals her whole life, passing that down to us kids, and I to my own! Pictured above, is one of my all-time favorite photographs I have taken of my Mom. She is with her two beloved and devoted furbabies, Brandy and Lady, who all posed together many years ago on one of her birthdays!  G rowing up, we always had multiple dogs (both purebreds and many, many adopted & stray ones, and ones who just happened to "follow us home!") We also raised horses, ponies, goats, ducks, and had a myriad of cats, bunnies, turtles, fish, and even a red fox (it's mother was killed by a car and it was just a tiny baby all alone on the side of the road when my brother rescued it. We had to nurse it with a doll's bottle). Our pet menagerie als
