Think Purple! First FiveSibes #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Awareness Online Auction Coming in November to Benefit Epi-Dogs Worldwide!

Think Purple! As many of you know, my wooly Husky Gibson was diagnosed with idiopathic Canine Epilepsy five years ago shortly after his third birthday. We've been on an awareness campaign ever since to bring information, resources contacts, and support to other folks who have Epi-dogs, or those who are just experiencing this very scary disorder for the first time. In conjunction with November being National Epilepsy Awareness Month, #FiveSibes have teamed up with AFA - Auctions For Animals for the first ever #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Awareness Online Auction! Profits from the auction will benefit the Canine Epilepsy Resources Epil-K9 Foundation AND The Wally Foundation- canine epilepsy!

Bidding has not yet begun (not until November 1st at 10 AM and closes November 15th at 8 PM), but we are looking for donations of new items, services, or goods for the auction (they don't have to be Siberian Husky, or dog-related. While we do, of course, have some of those, all kinds of new goods are welcome - art, music, hand-made crafts, books, jewelry, etc. You can check out the items donated so far right HERE.

Your donation will help us hold this auction to raise funds for these amazing non-profits that offer valuable assistance, resources, and support to Epi-dog parents and guardians worldwide. Your contribution is greatly appreciated! Just Email us at FiveSibesLiveGibStrong(at)gmail(dot)com (and you all know to exchange the at symbol and period for the words in parenthesis) and let us know what you would like to donate, a photo, and brief description! We'll happily share your website link to thank you for your kindness!

On behalf of Epi-dogs everywhere, thank you!

I'd like to dedicate today's blog post to a dear, sweet Husky who earned his angel wings this week. Timber Stoddard, of Holly and the Huskies blog, had been not feeling well and having an increased amount of seizures. After several visits to the vet, and with much love and care, it was determined that Timber most likely had a brain tumor. This past week, he experienced two more seizures, that greatly affected his brain to the point that he no longer recognized his family, fellow pack members, and lost control over his bodily function. As Holly describes it, on a breezy, cool, Autumn day, his they helped Timber make his final journey - to North of the Rainbow Bridge, where he is now reunited with his brother Oreo, and running happily and pain free. We've come to know and love Holly and her Huskies (we call each others tribe of five "cousins!) and we have a very special friendship, and while our heart breaks for the loss of Timber, we join them in knowing he is now free from illness, his spirit forever alive in the hearts of those who loved him. Timber, while you will be missed, enjoy running through those beautiful snow-covered fields once again with Oreo.
